Rogers Memorial Collection: John Barnett papers, 1818-1889 (inclusive), 1823-1865 (bulk).

The bulk of this collection is contained in three subseries. Subseries B, Compositions by John Barnett, includes more than one hundred manuscript musical scores by Barnett, most of them short pieces. Subseries C, Compositions by Others, consists mostly of words sent to Barnett by various authors to be set to music, including compositions by authors such as Manfredo Maggioni, Henry Thomas Smart, and Harry Stoe Van Dyk. Subseries D, Diaries, includes diaries kept intermittently by Barnett from 1829 to 1889, as well as typescript transcripts prepared by Henry Munroe Rogers of the diaries from 1831 to 1847.

Henry Munroe Rogers and Clara Kathleen Rogers amassed a substantial collection of theatrical and military memorabilia over the course of their long lives, mostly as part of their personal papers. In 1930, they donated these papers to Harvard College Library. The Rogers Memorial Room on the top floor of Widener Library was set aside to house the collection, and opened in 1935.
